Hi beauties! I made my first Glossier order earlier this year and I am SO pleased with the products I’ve gotten. Not to be dramatic but one in particular has been life changing and made Winter so much more bearable. Today I am going to be giving you a little review for Glossier’s Balm Dotcom.
Balm Dotcom is described by Glossier as a multipurpose lip balm and skin salve. It contains:
Castor Seed Oil – A natural plant extract, the thick emollient has unique water-binding properties that keep moisture locked in.
Beeswax – A natural emollient which acts as a protective barrier.
Cupuacu Fruit Extract – An organic, long-lasting moisturizer with Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids that melts into skin on contact.
Rice Bran and Rosemary Leaf Extracts – Antioxidants to combat free-radical skin damage.
It also claims to be hypoallergenic and is paraben free and cruelty free.
Balm Dotcom retails for $12 and comes in 5 flavours (original, mint, cherry (red tint), rose (sheer pink tint) and birthday (subtle shimmer)) I bought rose and birthday at first and I loved them so much that I later purchased coconut and cherry to try.
My first impression was sheer glee. The packaging and tubes are super cute and the scents were delightful – not overwhelming. I struggled to squeeze the product out at first but I think this was because it was really cold and the balm is actually very thick.
Application is super simple and comfortable. The product sort of melts a little and glides on the skin really smoothly. Balmdotcom sort of mimics Vaseline but is a lot thicker. It provides instant hydration that last for the longest time. I struggle SO much in Winter with dry lips and even more so in Ramadaan because my body isn’t getting as much hydration.
Balmdotcom made my lips super soft and it didn’t need constant reapplication. I also used some of the coconut one on the sides of my nose which dried out when I had a cold and the rose one on my dry cuticles. I often have the worst time with matte lipsticks making my lips feel uncomfortable but a thin layer of Balmdotcom before lipstick application makes all the difference.
I know $12 seems steep for a lip balm but this is the ONLY one that didn’t make my lips feel drier 15 minutes later. My lips have been so much healthier and happier since I added Baldotcom to my routine.
The only gripe I have is that I am afraid the tube will burst if I squeeze it too hard.
Glossier’s Balmdotcom is a product I will 100% recommend and will always repurchase. I need it in my handbag ALL the time. It’s tough to pick a favourite but I think I like rose the most.
I used my forwarding address to order Glossier directly from their website. If you’d like a full cost breakdown let me know in the comments.
Until next time
Love and sparkles
