A small while back, a chic little Maison de Parfum called Atelier Cologne landed in South Africa. The newly launched counter in Cosmetics Gallery in Hyde Park Corner now joins two other counters that tell the stories Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel want you to feel through their fragrances.
Established in 2009, Atelier Cologne was born out of inspiration from the original Eau de Cologne which you might know as 4711. The idea was to craft beautiful, balanced fragrances by blending citruses with exquisite raw materials. There are a few different scents in the collection; including Grand Neroli, Orange Sanguine, Oolang Infini and Bergamote Soleil. All the perfumes are long lasting and they can be layered and worn together to create your own unique blend.
The bottles are all shaped the same; classic rectangular, slightly rounded on the edges and they are clear so you can see the fragrance inside. The stoppers are made from natural genuine leather.
The personal experience is also one that Atelier Cologne as a brand really focuses on. The counters are really cosy and the “fragrance sommeliers” (I call them that) encourage you to find your perfect scent match. You can also have your leather bottle cover enbbossed with your name. If you take your perfume really seriously (like me), Atelier Cologne is definitely a luxurious fragrance experience you must have!
My 2 favourites are Vanille Insensée; which is a sweet blend of Madagascan vanilla, Mexican limette and Slovenian oakmoss to bring it together and Silver Iris, a warm and comforting balance of Tuscan Iris and Tangerine and Brazillian Tonka Bean. My husband loves the zesty Pomélo Paradis which mixes pomelo from Florida with blackcurrant and vetiver.
There really is something for everyone! I cannot recommend the Atelier Cologne experience enough!
