{BEAUTY} | My Favourite Face Masks

Hi beauties! Masking is super important. The right face mask for your skin type can help with minor issues you may be experiencing with your skin and masks generally contribute to your skin’s overall contentment. It’s also nice to take some time off to yourself and just pamper your face. Today I’m going to be sharing my favourite face masks and how I use them. My skin type is dry and sometimes sensitive with minimal break-outs so please do note that these may not work for you. I generally focus on masks that will nourish and lift my skin.

So put on some Future and let’s go!

Glamglow Gravity Mud (ZAR860)

Now this is my absolute favourite mask for a long, luxurious pamper. Don’t let anyone convince you that it’s too expensive and does nothing because it is AMAZING. Gravity Mud is a peel-off formula blended with a super soothing Teaoxi (Glamglow’s patented method) complex of liquorice and marshmallow extracts. These ingredients are super soothing on the skin and help to firm and tone. It does take about 30 minutes to dry but it is so worth the wait. My skin feels incredibly plump and lifted and looks glowy and radiant afterwards.

BONUS – it has a subtle pina colada scent and is a silvery metallic colour. It also comes in fun limited edition colours and formulas like Glittermask and My Little Pony. You can read more about Glittermask in my full post here.

Lush FOMO Jelly Mask (ZAR145)

I LOVE the idea of the “jelly mask”. It basically has a squishy, jelly-like texture and you pinch off a piece, warm it between your hands and smooth the paste onto your skin. It takes 10-15 minutes to work its magic and then I usually wipe it off with a damp flannel. The base of the mask is carrageenan, a substance extracted from seaweed, which gives it its squidgy feel and is also very hydrating. I chose FOMO because it is packed with calamine powder which is really soothing on the skin – especially if it’s sensitive. It also contains rose absolute and neroli extract for toning, balance and restoration. FOMO smells AMAZING too! I usually use this when my skin feels exhausted like after a really long day or a road trip.

Nivea One Minute Urban Skin Detox Mask (ZAR100)

This was a VERY recent addition to my mask arsenal. It is a one minute hydrating and detox mask that contains Green Tea and Hyaluronic Acid. There’s no need to wash it off and you just massage the excess product into the skin once the minute has passed. It makes my skin feel so smooth and hydrated and it is perfect for those days when you know your skin needs TLC but you just don’t have the time. There’s also a pore-refining version that’s self-heating!

Sidenote – Glamglow also makes a one minute mask that I’m keen to try

L’Oreal Pure Clay Glow Mask (ZAR160)

The L’Oreal Pure Clay masks are SO budget friendly and are perfect for multi-masking. I wrote an entire post on them which you can read here. The Glow mask is enriched with brightening red algae extract and very finely milled apricot seeds that gently exfoliate the skin.

It cleans out pores, removes dead skin cells and refines the skin, leaving it soft and radiant. Glow Mask has a very subtle, spa-like scent and dries in just 10 minutes. This is my general go-to mask.

Sheet Masks

Sheet Masks are very trendy right now but they genuinely work. They’re face shaped sheets of fabric saturated in serum that is generally packed with vitamins and other ingredients such as hyaluronic acid. You keep them on your face for ±30 minutes so that your skin can absorb the product and then you pull it off and massage any excess serum into your skin. I was first introduced to sheet masks when my friend Mary brought me some back a few years ago and now I can’t live without them – it’s like an intensive treatment for your face. I even stocked up when I visited Thailand last year. I usually go for sheet masks that hydrate, nourish and plump my skin.  You can get sheet masks from Garnier, Miniso and a lovely selection of sheet masks and Korean beauty products from Philosophy Glow online.

Before I go I must make mention of the Glamglow Super Mud  that is a favourite amongst my brothers and husband who all have oily and acne prone skin. It is an activated charcoal based clearing treatment. Super Mud removes toxins and deep cleans the pores.

I also asked my followers for their favourites and here are some responses.

What are your favourites?

Until next time

Love and sparkles
