{SKINCARE} | My Favourite Moisturizers

Hi beauties! After sharing my favourite masks a while back I was requested on my social media to share my other favourites. Today I will be talking about my favourite moisturizers. I have dry and sometimes sensitive skin so these moisturizers may not work for you but I will try to include some options for other skin types that people I know use. I’ve included products at different price points that range from drugstore to high-end and some of them were PR samples but I 100% use all these moisturizers on my skin.

GLAMGLOW Waterburst Moisturizer (ZAR 660)

This is a recent favourite and it is going to be perfect for Summer! It is a super hydrating gel cream packed with Jeju Island volcanic water, Triple Hyaluronic Acid Complex and Blue Nymph Lily Teaoxi extract. Waterburst smells like creamsicles and quenches the skin with up to 72 hours of lightweight moisture. I wrote a full review of Waterburst which you can read here.

My husband has oily skin and swears by Glamglow’s Volcasmic moisturizer.

Garnier SkinActive Botanical Day Cream with Rosewater (ZAR 60)

This moisturizer is enriched with soothing rosewater. It comes in a tube and has a very rich, thick texture but absorbs beautifully into the skin and makes my skin feel really nourished and incredibly calm. It is perfect for those no makeup days. You can read my blog post about the SkinActive rosewater range here.

Glossier Priming Moisturizer ($ 22)

Use this link to get 10% off your first Glossier purchase – http://bff.glossier.com/h7hii

Priming Moisturizer was my first Glossier purchase and the website describes it as, “Light and buildable moisture for a dewy, smooth canvas.” It hydrates and plumps up skin with Hyaluronic Acid and mushroom plant extract but also contains an anti-redness complex of tea and honey extracts, oxygenating agents and is packed with vitamins and radish root to protect the skin. It is also fragrance-free and buildable so you can wear it all year round. I love Priming Moisturizer because it’s fuss-free and I can put on my makeup straight after. I can’t explain it but my skin just looks *nicer* after application so you can just go without makeup and spot conceal too! The packaging is also a huge bonus – so cute! If you can’t buy Glossier, Smashbox’s Primerizer is an excellent alternative for a 2-in-1 primer/moisturizer.

Clinique Pep-Start™ Hydrorush (ZAR 480), Smart SPF15 (ZAR 930) and Smart Night (ZAR 930)

Clinique has been part of my skincare routine for years now! I have repurchased these 3 products loads of times and never ever disappoint. I love Clinique’s moisturizers because they’re not gimmicky or fancy – they just do what they say they will. They’re also dermatologically tested, fragrance free and there’s quite a range to choose from. Hydrorush is SPF20 and literally melts into the skin for long lasting hydration. It is great for Summer because the SPF is built-in and it’s pretty lightweight. You can read a full review here. Smart SPF15 is slightly heavier but absorbs nicely into the skin – perfect for sunny Winter days. Smart Night is also formulated with Smart™ hydration technology which helps the skin retain moisture, tackles lines, brightens and firms. It’s so comfortable and velvety and my skin feels relaxed and smooth when I wake up. You can read more here.

Crème Soyeuse de la Mer (ZAR 2550 -30mL)

I can literally go into all the detail about the physicist and the magical Miracle Broth™ elixir but I will just say that you can 100% believe the hype because this baby WORKS! I saved my coins for one repurchase after I received a jar as a gift and it was money well spent. I use this at night, once a week (or so) and it makes my skin feel like a luxurious DREAM! It is a rich cream and tackles dryness, deeply soothes my skin and somehow makes it look super radiant and glowy the next morning. I love the subtle scent too.  A little decadence is okay every now and then!

Nivea Crème (ZAR 37)

This OG baby is (according to Amber Rose) *almost* a dupe for La Mer and it’s at an excellent price point. It’s a classic, rich velvety cream that has been around since 1911. My grandmother always used to have a tin in her drawer. I use this nightly in Winter and it really provides intense nourishment that is super necessary in dry JHB. When I wake up my skin is still really soft and moisturised even with the dry air. The smell when i open the tin makes me think of warm, toasty Winter nights.

I asked my followers over on Instagram what they use and here are some of the responses.
